We saw many of the hotels on Route 1 pop up (they blocked the view of the ocean from that scenic road, but hey, you should be watching the road, right?)and many of the businesses that became the true anchors/attractions downtown: the candy (mmmm....chocolate) store, the general store for newspapers and coffee in the morning while you're out for that Marginal Way walk), the old-fashioned theater which shows new movies, and the numerous restaurants, like Barnicle Billy's. Perkins Cove is a spot to spend the day and look for beach glass. <BR/><BR/>Sure, Sturbridge is different. It has an ocean of green, instead of blue.
