Autumn in the North Cemetery.

Sixty miles west of Boston, Massachusetts there is the small New England town of Sturbridge. Located at the junction of I-90 (The Mass Pike), and I-84 it has become known as the "Crossroads of New England". The town was first settled over 300 years ago, and like other small New England towns it has grown just enough over the years to be in a difficult place today. How do we embrace the future without forgetting how we got to our present? How do we attract the right kind of growth, and maintain who we are? And, what about our culture out here in Central Massachusetts?

These pages will cause one to think about how to protect what we have, our future direction, and how to move on in the very best way.

Those thoughts, and other ramblings, will hopefully inspire more thought, conversation, action, and occasionally a smile...

Labor Of Love Program

I recently learned of a group of residents that are forming "The Labor of Love" committee. This committee, an all volunteer effort, will aid senior residents, disabled residents, and single parent households with the upkeep / maintenance of their home. Volunteers will give one day, or a weekend, to the two families selected by the group each year, and assist with the immediate needs of the family related to their home. This could mean landscaping, repairs, or painting around the house.

The committee is currently looking for volunteers to perform the work, and vendors to assist with supplies.

Small towns have always come through for those in need. This kind of program is like a barn raising with everyone getting together to help out others in need.

This is a great idea, not just for the obvious reasons, but for the sense of community it builds as well. That renewed sense of community can go far in spawning other programs, and events.

Yep, I like this idea a lot.

  1. Does anyone know if TRC is involved in this? It is important to know because I am one, of many, who wouldn’t have anything to do with anything he is involved in. Great cause or not, his politically motivated ways are unworthy of a helping hand. It is hypocritical to show exaggerated compassion towards some and such unruly hatred towards other in a small town that people call home. Humanity, is defined as the qualities or characteristics considered as a whole to be characteristic of human beings. I would not want to be at the same barn raising as TRC, a.k.a Ernest, for fear of him being in charge of holding the center beam. One’s fate would be determined by who they were standing next to.

  2. He has harrassed elderly women, makes fun of people - most recently those with certain impairments. Yeah what a stand up guy to have in our community helping people. Sick.

  3. I thoought Mary Blanchard was heading this program up. I know that she and Creamer and Garieri are tight, but I don't think he is involved in this. If he is then the program is done before it starts.

  4. I want to know too if TRC has anything to do with this project. He and his group Mary, Charlie, Scott, Ginger and Ms. Morrison are so disrespectful to their fellow human kind. I shudder to think what their actual motive is. They never do anything with out personal gain.
